The hazel tree is often seen in mythology, as a symbol of wisdom, inspiration and protection, said to offer protection. In centuries past the twigs would be favoured for divining rods. Even without our folklore, the twisting turning branches of witch hazel feel to me, as though they belong in a fairy tale. “Lost & Found” partners the hazel in different stages of growth, with an old style navigational compass. The beautiful catkins aren’t seen with the hazelcobs, but let's celebrate all the phases of these beautiful trees!
This art print is a small edition of 28 original hand printed and artist signed artworks. Hand printed in a soft olive green/brown from a hand carved lino block, onto 130g Snowdon cartridge which is a lovely soft white with slight texture.

Prints and colour may have subtle variation due to the hand made nature of the printing process which makes each print one of a kind. The small marks and flecks of the print are known as ‘chatter’ and are characteristic of linocuts.
